SYHealth Teen Clinic Peer Health Advocates
The San Ysidro Health (SYH) Peer Health Advocate program works with 15-20 friendly and enthusiastic teens in 10th-12th grade at the Sweetwater Union High School District. In this yearlong public health internship, students will learn and present about various health topics, conduct workshops, utilize social media to teach their peers, and act as a resource to their friends. Participants receive a small stipend upon completion of the program and will receive community service hours. This program focuses on Health Advocacy and Social Justice and has two tracks: Social Media and Health Education. Participants have the opportunity to complete both tracks during this one year program.
